On The 26th of July 2009 Bangladesh Welfare
Society Campbelltown held The Winter Food (Pitha) Festival.
In this Festival the following people were present Honorable
Consul General for Bangladesh Mr Anthony Chouri, Councillor
Aaron Rule Campbelltown City Council, Councillor Anoulack
Chanthivong Campbelltown City Council, Labor Party President
Minto Branch Mr. John McLaughlin, Former Mayor Mr. Brenton
Banfield Campbelltown City Council and Tia Redrekusa from
Macquarie Fields Local Area Command, Crime Managment Unit.
Unfortunately due to personal commitments the following
people could not be present today, Lieutenant Masud Uddin
Chowdhury Bangladesh High Commissioner, Mr. Chris Hayes
MP Federal Member for Werriwa,
Mr. Graham West State MP Campbelltown and Mr. Andrew McDonald
State MP Macquarie Fields.
This Festival was very successful, many bangladeshi and
other community people was present.
In this function Bangladesh Welfare Society Campbelltown
donated $6000 to different charitable funds.
$1000 was donated to Campbelltown Childrens Hospital, $2000
was donated to Cancer patients, $2000 was donated to student
scholarships, $1000 was donated to The Hemophilia Society,
Dhaka Bangladesh and disabled patients.
Bangladesh Welfare Society Campbelltown recognised Former
Mayor Mr Brenton Banfields community work and presented
him with a crest. Mr Moinul Islam Chowdhury the President
of Bangladesh Welfare Society Campbelltown presented the
crest to him.
President Moinul Islam Chowdhury and General Secretary Iqbal
Farrukh thanked everyone for comming and enjoing the festival.
